Aviv received his architecture degree in 1997 from the Bezalel Academy for Arts and Design. Following his studies, he worked as an Associate Architect at several leading Israeli firms, following which he joined Yashar Architects and became a partner in 2010.
Aviv focuses on residential projects of varying scales and types, from urban plans to high-rise towers to low-rise buildings, all of which are integrated into the urban texture at street level. In each project, he aims to balance creative solutions with the practical needs of the buildings, its residents, and the public, generating a spirit of place and belonging in the design. Aviv equates the complex design process to an organic body or machine in which all aspects must be attended to wisely and carefully, without losing direction.
Aviv feels strongly about the need to intensify urbanism with dense, mixed use community- based city centers that intertwine housing and employment zones to improve mobility, ease congestion improve the quality of our urban spaces. In this process, we must work to enliven our urban history, while simultaneously giving it new energy.
